Open Question: Do the White Sox really have tons of good prospects?

7 September 2010, 3:00 pm

It's been around 7 years since i started following baseball religiously and it seems every year there is some new guy they are hyping up to be the next star. Were they serious or just using it at trade bate. Take a look at what has become of each year's star of the future since 2003. 2003- Jeremy Reed- traded for Freddy Garcia in June 2004...Became a journeyman outfielder for a few years. 2004- Felix Diaz- Made a few starts and never returned to the bigs. Cut by the team prior to the 2006 season. 2005- Brandon McCarthy- Pitched well as a spot starter in 2005 and was traded to Texas for John Danks in 2006. He has since been a mediorce starter for Texas and their AAA team. 2006- Josh Fields- Traded in 2009 for Mark Teahen. Fields has only played two games for KC this year. 2007- Jerry Owens- Lead the team in hitting in 2007 and was cut prior to the 2009 season. Now out of baseball. 2008- Aaron Poreda- Traded to the Padres for Jake Peavy. Yet to make a start for San Diego. 2009- Tyler Flowers- Played a few games last season. Yet to make a big league start this year (catcher) 2010- Dayan Viciedo- TBD Is it a trend that they all end up being traded and failing? Does every team do this? or am I thinking to hard about this?... Read More »
